Primary elections: Iheme picks NDC Reps ticket for Isiuakwato /Umunneochi fed Constituency

Abia Party Chieftain, Chief Onyekachi Iheme, has emerged the house of the representatives candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Isiuakwato/Umunneochi federal constituency in the forthcoming general election in 2027.

His emergence followed the  successful conduct of the house of representatives primary election for Isiuakwato /Umunneochi federal constituency seat by the leadership of the NDC.

Onyekachi Iheme polled a total of 202 votes casts to defeat close rivals Gladys Okoro who scored 160 to come second, while Victor Onwumere scored 68 to come third.

The Returning Officer of the house of representatives primary election held in Isiuakwato, Simplicious Osuagwu disclosed that a total of 690 members were registered for the exercise, while 619 members participated in the concluded primary held in Isiuakwato.

In Umunneochi constituency, Onyekachi Iheme polled 232 votes casts to beat Evangene who scored 105 votes to take second position, while Ugochukwu Okoji scored 62 votes cast to come third in the recently-conducted primaries by NDC in umunneochi area.

According to the Returning Officer of the house of representatives primary election held in Umunneochi constituency, a total number of 585 members were registered for the exercise, while a total of 575 members were accredited and participated in the concluded NDC primary election held in the umunneochi area.

Speaking on Friday, after he was announced winner of the house of representatives primaries held for Isiuakwato/umunneochi federal constituency by the NDC, Chief Onyekachi Iheme described his victory at the just-concluded house of representatives primaries for Isiuakwato/umuahia federal constituency seat as a new chapter of progress and purposeful leadership in Abia north senatorial district.

He thanked party members and teeming supporters for their support and confidence reposed in him by electing him to fly the party’s flag in the next year’s main election in Abia and man other states of Nigeria federation.

The Abia NDC Standard-bearer commended the leadership of the ADC for providing level-playing grounds for all aspirants who sought the party’s tickets in the recently-conducted primaries across Abia state.

He promised to ensure effective representation of Isiuakwato/umunneochi federal constituency at the house of representatives when elected as member of the national assembly.

“I’m well-prepared for the plum legislative job. I will initiate and pursue development-oriented bills, and make good laws in driving development in Isiuakwato/umunneochi federal constituency and as well as towards strengthening all relevant institutions of democratic governance in Nigeria when voted into office as member of the house of representatives in the forthcoming general election in the country.
