‘Bishop Onuoha, Iyke Nwoke luring ADC members into signing a document to suspend Abia chairman’-Okwara Agwu

Chieftain, Hon Prince Okwara Agwu has alleged an orchestrated plan by disgruntled members of the African Democratic Congress led by the 2023 former Governorship candidate, Bishop Sunday Onuoha to hijack structure of the party in Abia state.

In a worded statement on Saturday, Prince Okwara Agwu who doubles as Ohafia local government area chapter of the ADC, claimed that Onuoha and Barrister Emerson Emenike are luring members into signing a vote of no confidence against the state chairman, Don Norman Obinna.

He reiterated the total confidence of members across the state on the current state working committee of the African Democratic Congress chaired by Norman Obinna, vowing that well-meaning party members will resist any subtle attempt by these individuals to invite division or create chaos in Abia chapter of the ADC.

His statement partly read: “Before the emergence of Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha as the 2023 gubernatorial candidate, ADC Abia state has her structures all over the state, from wards to local government areas. The hard earned structure of ADC was destroyed by the gubernatorial candidate who was not in ADC for election but was regarded as a mole by the party members.

“In recent times, we have observed with growing concern a deliberate and coordinated effort to spread misinformation, misrepresent facts, and malign the character of our hard working state Chairman Hon. Don Norman Obinna and incite him against his members, the state executives and the local government Chairmen and some individuals who have shown consistent dedication to the party. Such reckless actions, especially when based on unfounded allegations and half-truths, are not only irresponsible but constitute a direct threat to the peace and stability of ADC in Abia state.

“To Bishop Sunday Ndukwo Onuoha, Deacon Iyke Nwoke, Barrister Emerson and Nkem Ukandu, we must speak frankly: it is increasingly evident that your personal frustrations and fading political ambitions have driven you to seek relevance through what can only be described as desperation. Your recent attempts to insert yourself into public relevance not through  constructive dialogue but through baseless insinuations and inflammatory narratives against Don Norman Obinna are both regrettable and dangerous, particularly now, when your contributions to the collective good are, by all visible measures, nonexistent, this behavior reflects a desperate grasp for attention rather than a genuine concern for ADC’S welfare.

“What makes this situation more unfortunate is that, deep down, these individuals are fully aware that the state chairman they target has worked tirelessly, often behind the scenes to support ADC growth,  and peaceful coexistence in our Local Governments.

Their continued mischaracterization of their efforts undermines not just their integrity, but also the aspirations of ADC to thrive as a model of a united and peaceful political party.

“We urge all of you engaging in similar behavior to reflect on the consequences of your actions. Public discourse, especially in our digitally connected age, must be rooted in truth, fairness, and a commitment to the public good.

“Discussions on sensitive matters should be guided by verified facts, balanced perspectives, and a genuine desire for progress, not personal vendettas or ego-driven agendas.

“Let it be known that if this campaign of misinformation continues unchecked, it will not do any of you any good.

“We remain committed to the peace, progress, and unity of ADC Abia state chapter, do not allow your political desperation or personal grievances to derail the hard-earned harmony that binds us together”.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia state has declared that Mr Iyke Nwoke is not a member of the party and affirmed that Nwoke belongs to All Progressives Congress (APC) and also serves as Abia coordinator of Renewed Hope Partners, a group of APC supporters rooting for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.

The party made this known in a statement issued on Saturday in Umuahia, the state capital.
