THE UMUAHIA SOUTH ABIA STATE PRIMARIES Of THE NDC WERE CHARACTERIZED BY MALPRACTICE AND AN ABUSE OF THE PARTY’S INTEGRITY

(A call for national intervention).

Attention:

1. SENATOR CLEOPAS MOSES ZUWOGHE ; The National Chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

2. Dr. PETER G. OBI: sole founder (NDC)

Elder Engineer Stanley Uche, the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal House of Representatives aspirant, experienced significant irregularities during the party’s primary election, which took place on 29 May, 2026. at Ahia Ukwu Olokoro Umuahia South, apparently due to biased returning officers.

The returning officers’ impartiality was compromised as they zealously counted the supporters of Elder Engineer Stanley Uche’s opponents but showed reluctance in counting the supporters of Elder Engineer Stanley Uche, thereby excluding approximately 589 members from the count including my humble self.

Unfortunately, well-equipped men from Nigeria’s security agencies were deployed to intimidate supporters of Elder Engineer Stanley Uche, who were prevented from approaching the returning office to express their grievances over being excluded from the count, and were instead subjected to tear gas and gunpoint intimidation.

In the face of oppression and intimidation, Elder Engineer Stanley Uche, a law-abiding Nigerian citizen, exemplifies the character of Dr. Peter Obi by upholding the principles of transparency, due process, and constitutionality, and remaining composed under duress.

It would not be incorrect to suggest that the NDC may fall short of Nigeria’s expectations in the 2027 general election if the national working committee omits to address the party primary election held today and cancel all results generated through irregularities and malpractices, especially the Umuahia South Local Government election primaries.

If the NDC persists in misapplying party guidelines for primary elections, it would be reasonable to conclude that the hopes of ordinary Nigerians are better protected under the APC administration than the NDC. Regrettably, the party’s integrity is highly susceptible to compromise due to rampant election malpractices.

The National Working Committee must intervene urgently to prevent a loss of integrity for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, which could potentially affect Dr. Peter Obi’s prospects in the 2027 general election, as numerous party members are dissatisfied with the primary election’s outcome due to malpractices and disorder, resulting in approximately 7 million Nigerians losing interest in NDC.

While I remain silent, awaiting the final results from the National authority, it is my ardent hope that Elder Engineer Stanley Uche will be given the ticket,
