The convener of Country First Movement, Professor Chris Nwaokobia jnr, has criticized the frequent foreign trips by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

THE PURVEYOR recalls that President Tinubu spent some two weeks in Japan and Brazil with a very large entourage two weeks ago.

A month before, he was in France and United Kingdom on medical grounds.

On 4th September, he flew out to Europe for another two-week holiday.

According to a statement issued by Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the vacation will last 10 working days

While berating the President’s absenteeism and frequent oversea trips which contained in a statement on Saturday, Professor Nwaokobia regretted that the President travels in the face of widespread insecurity, unmitigated hunger and disease bedeviling the country.

“The President travels like one overtaken by wanderlust, yet the sycophants standing on his mandate see no wrong in it. They pride in his trip as enhancing our foreign policy. What foreign policy if I may ask,”he queried.

Continuing, Nwaokobia said “A country without ambassadors and high commissioners in most of her foreign missions cannot be said to be committed to proper enduring diplomacy. But his court-jesters Tinubu is Nigeria, and Nigeria is Tinubu’s, he does no wrong.

The pro-democracy and rights activist also criticized Tinubu-led administration’s obsession with borrowing which according to him, has led the country to incur huge debts.

“The other day he told a gathering of his supporters that his government has exceeded since the month of August the projected revenue for the year 2025, only to put in another request for a $1.7billion dollar loan.

“I do not understand what informs the unbridled deceit, debauchery, perfidy and mendacity that defines the present watch?

“Why have they elevated falsehood to act of state? If you are doing so well in terms of revenue inflow why the obsession with borrowing. When you think about the relentless effort of the minders of this presidency who hide behind the present value of the naira in the lame defense of the huge national debt that Tinubu’s government has incurred, incurring almost in two years the total debt Buhari incurred in eight years. Then you will understand how shamelessly rudderless the present watch is,”he posited.
