Imo Guber: I am the best man to succeed Governor Uzodinma-Ex-speaker, Offor

Frontline chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Former Speaker of Imo state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedu Offor, has insisted that he’s the best man to succeed the incumbent Imo state Governor Hope Uzodinma after expiration of his current tenure in office.

Offor maintained that he possessed the needed capacity and experience to build on Governor Uzodinma’s giant strides and as well engender more genuine growth and development in all critical sectors of imo economy if supported to emerge as imo governor.

The frontline gubernatorial hopeful who was speaking in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, said imo state yearns for true democratic governance that would foster building of critical infrastructural projects, effective security architecture, improved education and health care delivery systems, among other important sectors,lauded the efforts of Governor Hope Uzodinma -led administration in the state for laying solid foundation for  economic prosperity of the state through building of tangible socio-economic and infrastructural projects across imo state.

Hon Offor promised that his administration will pay adequate attention on local government system, and will also prioritize more on roads construction and other key sectors to accelerate development in rural communities towards ensuring inflow of business activities in these local areas when elected as next executive governor of imo state.

” I am the best person for the job.  I will build on the giant  developmental strides already-achieved by Governor Hope Uzodinma. I call him classic governor. Because all his projects are classics. And these complete projects have engendered positively transformation in the state economy. and as well as enhanced of the welfares of the imolites.  I’m not going to be doing what other people normally do now. They will have six or seven agendas and then, you will know it is not well-taught out. The key to any development is local government. If all local government areas in imo state have access to good roads. When they have access to Internet, what does that means? It means the cities will be decongested. If you go to most villages in the local government areas, they are all dead and moribund. Everybody and all productive-minds have left there. We have only old people who have served the state, who have served the country in one way or the other. Who are suffering on daily basis. Why is it like this? Because everyone have gone to the cities. Nobody to take care of their welfares. Why are our people going to the city? Possibly due to good roads, electricity, Internet facilities, and rest. Why not bring them down to the villages?

“Imo state, owerri, the state capital for instance, if there are good roads in the local government areas, at least thirty or forty minutes, wherever you are able to get to work. You don’t need to live in owerri. You can live in the village and go to your workplaces. That will save you the money, save you the headache, and you will also be productive at home.

“You don’t need to go to Owerri for medical treatment. Why can’t we have good local government hospitals. Not just health centers. We can expand and upgrade the health centers to hospitals in all the local government areas. You don’t need to go to Owerri, Orlu if you are in Onuimo local government area. There should be local government hospitals. Local government will receive sixty percent of my attention. I want the whole local government areas in imo state to be like owerri, the state capital city.

“Also, when there are more people in our villages, farming will begin again. I will ensure mechanized system of farming in fostering food sufficiency, food security in imo state in addressing food crisis ravaging many parts of the country,”He stated.

The former commissioner of Information and culture in imo state also disclosed that seventy percent of women will form as members of the state executive council towards ensuring effective formulation and implementation of policies to engender greater development of the state, and improve the living standards of every imo citizens.

His words: “And also, my cabinet would be seventy percent women will form my executive cabinet. If you lift women, you have lifted the whole family. Because they created the foundation of any society. And when you come to population, women all over the world including Nigeria, they are more populated.

Hon Offor declared that he would not allow to be addressed as His Excellency which is commonly used by most elected public- office-holders in the country when he emerge as governor of the state.

He maintained that he would seek legislative enactment for the use of government seal in all corporate offices, schools, and churches situated in imo state than current use of the governor’s portraits in these various private and government -owned institutions in imo state.

Honorable Offor used the medium to urge the people of the state to keep hope alive as our collective desires to build an economically and infrastructural stable imo for them to thrive in their different endeavors.
