Frontline governorship hopeful in Imo state and former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedu Offor has pleaded with political leaders and people of owerri extraction to rally-behind okigwe zone to produce Governor Hope Uzodinma’s successor in 2027.

Honorable Offor who made the appeal while answering questions from journalists in owerri, following the current debates on zoning of Imo 2027 governorship seat among the three(3) ethnic-zones in the state.
He emphasized that people of okigwe had supported orlu and owerri zones to produce governors and deputy governors for the state including enjoys government’s provision of critical socio-economic and infrastructural projects and amenities in their areas, reminding political stakeholders from owerri zone that the much-talked about imo charter of equity demands the state 2027 governorship position should be shifted to okigwe ethnic -bloc at the expiration of the second term of the incumbent governor, who hailed from orlu zone of imo state.
According to the ex-lawmaker, “Owerri zone have continued to benefit basic democratic dividends more than any other ethnic zones in Imo state. I see no reason for Owerri zone to demand governorship seat. Because all government assets, most of these socio-economic and infrastructural projects built by government are situated in owerri zone. And these giant developmental projects has turned owerri to become one of the most developed and civilized cities in Nigeria and entire Africa continent.
“Okigwe zone had short stint at the Douglas house under former Governor Ikedi Ohakim. For the sake of equity, fairness, and justice, okigwe should be allowed and supported fully to produce a democratically-elected Governor for imo state after Governor Hope Uzodinma. Because, okigwe bloc rendered full supports and cooperate with other zones to produce governor and engendered critical developments in their various areas.
“As another gubernatorial election approaches in imo state, it is essential all political groups in Imo State work together to ensure continued development of imo state. The people of imo state must come together and unite behind an okigwe son or daughter who can represent our general interests and aspirations. Again, the importance of unity among imolites cannot be overemphasized. Leaders and critical stakeholders should put aside differences and work towards emergence of Imo governor of okigwe extraction in 2027 for continuous development of the state. It is equitable and right time of okigwe zone take its turn in producing an executive governor of imo state. And if it must be Okigwe zone, it should be Onuimo”,He posited.
Honorable Offor also called on leaders from okigwe extraction to shop and present credible and acceptable candidate to earn the maximum supports from larger Imo electorates during the forthcoming gubernatorial poll in the state.
“To get the support of owerri and orlu, okigwe leaders should choose a neutral candidate like me, unlike controversial politicians who do not only have baggage but are compromised and under EFCC watch,”The APC chieftain advised.
Adducing the rationale behind his decision to succeed Governor Hope Uzodinma, Rt Hon Chinedu Offor boasted that he possessed the requisite capacity to provide good leadership to imo people and build on the solid foundation laid by Uzodinma’s administration in the state when supported to emerge as governor.
Apart of sustaining numerous giant developmental strides achieved by the current administration in imo state, Honorable Chinedu Offor promised to formulate and implement policies in engendering more impactful socio- economic and infrastructural projects, and encouraging human empowerment across the state.
He partly stated, “I’m going to work tirelessly day and night for socio-economic and infrastructural development of imo state. I am not greedy. I am satisfied where I am now. Imo electorates need someone who is selfless that does not have any barges. That’s why I am the best man for the plum job.
“I will prioritize building of critical infrastructural projects, in all local government areas of imo state towards fostering genuine developments in our rural communities. Also, seventy percent of the state executive council will be women when elected as governor. Because women created the foundation of any society. And when you come to population, women are more populated all over the world including Nigeria. They are even more educated and more managers. So, I have a lot of visionary and development -oriented policies to implement when I become governor”.
