Ihejirika Eze Emeka: Multi-Billion Naria Investment Paused and Wasted

This is not good for our economic growth.Since 2011, the multi-billion naira hospitality project of Senator Athan Achonu, located at Ama JK Owerri, has been on pause by the state government. Rochas Okorocha in his rule as Governor stopped work on the project,

Ihedioha in his 8 month administration recognised that the government was at fault, apologized for the past infractions and was amenable to settlement out of court before he was unfortunately removed.

Gov Uzodinma has so far not attended to the issue since 2019.For the Records Senator Athan Achonu has gotten a judgment in court, which affirms his 60% ownership of the Old Imo Hotels premises. The government has filed appeal and still has not diligently pursued the appeal.
We urge the state government to please negotiate an end to this impasse, which is painting a bad hue on the investment posture of the state. That investment would have provided jobs to many imolites.
Bar Ihejirika Eze Emeka, a legal representative, writes from Imo State, Nigeria.
