I remains authentic Abia chairman of ADC-Onwasoanya insists
By Chijindu Emeruwa
The Abia state chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Emole Onwasoanya has insisted that he remains the authentic and recognized chairman of the party in the state.
Onwusoanya hinted that his emergence as the state chairman of the party followed the expiration of the suspension of former state chairman, Mr Don Norman Obinna over alleged handedness and misappropriation of funds belonging to the party in Abia state.
He made the clarification while addressing newsmen at the weekend in umuahia, the state capital.
The ADC chairman insisted that there’s no factional leadership of the party in Abia and attributed the festering problems in the coalition party in the state to crisis of interests between true democrats, and political opportunists who are bent to trade off ADC for their selfish interests.
“Recall that the former State chairman, Mr Don Norman Obinna was suspended from office by the disciplinary committee set up by the party over handedness, misappropriation of funds and illegal sale of vehicle belonging to ADC in Abia state. Mazi Kanu O Kanu was appointed to act as state party chairman for three months which elapsed last year. Mazi Kanu, at conclusion of three month tenure on acting capacity, handed over office to me as substantiative Abia state chairman of ADC following unanimous decision of majority of leaders and major stakeholders of the party in Abia. And my emergence as state chairman will soon be ratisfied by our party national leadership.
“The other day, the suspended ex- chairman and other political jobbers issued different kinds of statements and even appeared on live radio stations and laid claims on leadership of ADC in Abia state after several warnings on them to desist from impersonating as state party chairmen and members of the state executive committee of the African Democratic Congress. As far as ADC is concerned, Don Norman Obinna and others have ceased to function as Abia state chairman of the party. They have been deceiving the public with deceits and illegal tours across the state. I remain the authentic Abia state chairman of ADC. That’s the current position.
Mr Onwusoanya lauded the unwavering commitment of leaders and loyal members to the unity of ADC in Abia state and the country.
He reiterated the party’s readiness to embark on grassroots mobilization and all-inclusive membership revalidation and registration drive in all local electoral wards across the state to enable Abia people become ADC members and participate in crusade to enthrone true democratic government in Nigeria in 2027.
Mr Onwusoanya used the medium to urge party faithfuls and indeed, the general public to be wary of evil machinations of political jobbers who currently hides under the coalition party platform to issue press statements and releases laying claims to the chairmanship position or leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Abia state.
