A tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening in the Abedi Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government Area, Kano State, when an uncompleted three-storey building collapsed, leaving four people dead and seven others injured.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) confirmed the unfortunate event on Monday, following an intensive rescue operation led by its Kano Territorial Office.

Dr Nuraddeen Abdullahi, the agency’s coordinator in the state, revealed that the building came down around 6:49 p.m. after a heavy and prolonged rainfall.

“Once we received the emergency alert, our search and rescue team was immediately deployed to the scene in collaboration with other emergency responders,” he told the News Agency of Nigeria.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said several people were inside the structure at the time it collapsed, with many trapped beneath the rubble.

Initial reports indicated that two people had died and six were rescued with injuries by early Monday morning.

However, updated figures released by NEMA later confirmed that four individuals lost their lives, while seven others were injured.
