An Open letter to the Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru on the need to retract the undemocratic statement made to the newly sworn-in LGA chairmen

Your Excellency

I wrote you this open letter not just as a concerned citizen but as one of the Governorship Candidates in the 2027 Gubernatorial Election in Ebonyi State. Let me state it categorically clear here that I do not support the idea of encouraging the 13 LGA Chairmen to deal mercilessly with any opposition that messes up! Your Excellency could you please explain to Ebonyi People what you meant by anyone who messes up? I just hope that you are not encouraging these LGA Chairmen to attack any opposition campaigning for himself/herself or campaigning for another candidate who is not APC candidate?

This directive encourages violence in the State and it is bad for our nascent democracy your Excellency! After listening to you, Your Excellency I concluded that Mr Paul Eze Itumo the newly sworn in Ohaukwu LGA Chairman made that threat to opposition just to impress you. This is wrong and should not be encouraged going forward. Ebonyi State belongs to all of us. No Ebonyi man or woman is more Ebonyian than any other citizen of the state.

Your Excellency please do not allow those sycophants around you to mislead you into encouraging violence in Ebonyi State. Elections are won by either the works you have done for the people in the State or by strategy but certainly not by violence.

These threats that are going up and down in Ebonyi State are painting your God given administration black before the citizens. Please put a stop to it. Opposition is not a crime anywhere in the world.

As the 2027 Labour Party Gubernatorial Candidate in Ebonyi State, I condemn this threat completely and encourage my supporters to be law abiding even as they go about their legitimate businesses in the State. Nobody can intimidate us in Ebonyi State because Ebonyi State belongs to all of us!
