Abia South 2027: Association urges NDC to issue senatorial ticket to Chikwendu

The Eziama High School Aba 1988 Class Old Boys Association has passionately appealed to the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) to consider and issue the Abia South Senatorial District ticket to its President, Comrade James Chibuzo Chikwendu.

They described Chikwendu as the most qualified, competent, credible, and grassroots-oriented aspirant capable of effectively representing the people of Abia South Senatorial District.

The association noted that its appeal came on the heels of  Comrade Chikwendu’s impressive showing during the recently concluded party primary process, his longstanding commitment to political participation, public service, and his unwavering dedication to the advancement of democratic values in Abia State.

Speaking on behalf of the association, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (B.O.T), Mazi Pius Okike, described Comrade Chikwendu as a leader par excellence, a man of integrity, justice, and courage whose commitment to the welfare of the masses has remained steadfast.

He stated that Comrade Chikwendu has consistently demonstrated his desire to contribute to the leadership and development of Abia State, having contested for the governorship of the state in 2011 under the platform of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) and as a House of Assembly candidate in 2015 under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The association further highlighted his current position as the National Vice President of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), Nigeria, where he has remained a fearless voice for the masses, a defender of justice, and an advocate for the rights and welfare of ordinary Nigerians.

The association also emphasized that Abia South Senatorial District, where Comrade Chikwendu was born, raised, and has built strong relationships over the years, holds him in high esteem. According to the association, the overwhelming love, confidence, and acceptance he enjoys among the people will translate into massive electoral support, thereby giving the NDC a strong advantage and a clear pathway to victory in the forthcoming senatorial election.

The association therefore called on the leadership of the NDC at both the national and state levels to consider merit, competence, grassroots acceptance, and the overall electoral strength of the party in making its final decision on the senatorial ticket.
