Abia deputy speaker congratulates Uwanna on elevation as Senior Advocate of Nigeria

Deputy Speaker of the Abia state House of Assembly, Rt Honorable Austin Okezie Meregini has congratulated the Attorney General and Abia State Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Ikechukwu Uwanna on his well-deserved conferment of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by the Legal Practitioner’s Privileges Committee of the National Judicial Council (NJC).

THE PURVEYOR recalls the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) had announced the elevation of 57 distinguished legal professionals to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

The announcement was made during the LPPC’s 169th plenary session held in Abuja on Thursday, chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun.

Among the 56 advocates are prominent legal practitioners such as the Attorney General of Abia State and a former Chairman of the NBA Lagos branch, Ikechukwu Uwanna.

Reacting, Honorable Austin Okezie Meregini who represents Umuahia East constituency in the state legislative house, in a statement at the weekend, described Barrister Uwanna’s elevation as senior advocate of Nigeria as a shining example of steadfast commitment and legal acumen demonstrated by the recipient over years of dedicated service to justice and the rule of law.

According to the deputy speaker in his goodwill message to the senior lawyer, “Your elevation has filled our beloved state with pride and has further highlighted the exceptional leadership and legal talent that Abia continues to nurture.

“We celebrate your hard work, resilience, and outstanding professionalism,”he added.
