2027:Chikwendu appeals to NDC NWC to uphold people’s mandate in Abia south senatorial ticket

Senatorial aspirant for Abia South district under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Comrade James Chibuzo Chikwendu, has appealed to the leadership of the NDC to uphold the democratic mandate fairly and unanimously bestowed upon him by the stakeholders and members of the party across the six local government area that constituted Abia south senatorial district.

The appeal by Comrade Chikwendu was contained in a letter signed and addressed to the national chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC)

A copy of the letter was made available to The Purveyor at the weekend.

Recall that the leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress had on 29 May 2026 conducted its primary election for Abia south senatorial district seat.

The conducted senatorial primary election ended with no official declaration of winner of the exercise by the electoral committee or party leadership.

Chikwendu partly stated, “Following extensive consultation, meetings,and deliberations among party leaders and stakeholders, a unanimous decision was reached endorsing me as the preferred candidate to fly the flag of our great party in the 2027 Abia south senatorial election. This endorsement was based on my proven leadership capacity, political experience, grassroot acceptability, unwavering dedication to party ideals, and my ability to secure electoral victory for our party.

“My political journey has been marked by consistency, sacrifice, and commitment to democratic development. I had the privilege of serving as governorship Candidate in 2011 and also contested as a house of assembly candidate. Throughout these years, I have remained steadfast in promoting the values of democracy, party unity, and grassroots mobilization. My relationship with people has been built on trust, accessibility, and service, which has earned me the widespread support across Abia south senatorial district.

“The chairmen and executive committees of the six local government areas have collectively and unanimously expressed their confidence in my candidature. They have also pledged their total support and commitment towards ensuring the victory of our great party in the forthcoming elections. Their endorsement is a true reflection of the wishes and aspirations of party members and supporters at the grassroots level who believe that I possess the competence, credibility, experience, and electoral strength required to deliver victory for NDC.

“It is therefore my humble appeal that the national leadership of our great party upholds the collective decision and democratic mandate of the people of Abia south. Respecting and sustaining this mandate will further strengthen internal democracy, promote party unity, inspire confidence among party faithfuls, and reinforce the principle that the voice of the grassroots remain supreme within our party”.
