Leaders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia state, have called on the people of Abia State to remain focused on voters’ education and voter registration mobilization, stressing that the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) remains the only tool to secure a brighter political future.

Speaking respectively at a stakeholders’ interaction in Ikwuano, former State House of Assembly aspirant, Daniel Iroegbulam-Philip-d and Comrade Paul Ogechi emphasized that the celebrated “New Abia” was made possible by the ballot, and that sustaining progress and achieving a “Better Abia” would only come through the power of the PVC.

They added that politics is ultimately a game of numbers, and only an increase in Ikwuano’s voting strength compared to neighboring LGAs such as Umuahia North, Umuahia South, and Obingwa would give the people the needed leverage in shaping Abia’s political direction.

“This is not the time to be distracted by noise-makers or divisive elements. The focus should be on mobilizing our people, educating voters, and ensuring that every eligible son and daughter of Ikwuano has a PVC. That is our real power,”they stated.

The ADC leaders also encouraged youths, women, and members of the Ikwuano diaspora to take voter registration seriously, describing it as a civic duty that directly determines the opportunities and development that would accrue to their communities.

They further charged stakeholders across the four clans of Ikwuano to unite under the principle of “Ikwuano First” by taking responsibility for mobilizing their villages to register and prepare for upcoming elections.

The message comes at a time when voter apathy and low registration figures in Ikwuano have continued to generate concerns among political observers.
