2027:Gov Otti’s remarks on Tinubu’s reelection bid do not represent position of Abia electorates-Ikoh

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Abia State Chapter, under the leadership of Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh (Ozurumba), have expressed  concern on Governor Alex Otti’s recent comments during his monthly media briefing in Umuahia regarding the 2027 re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Chief Henry Ikoh, former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology and Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Abia State, described the Governor’s remarks as his personal opinion, stressing that they do not reflect the position or aspirations of the people of Abia State.

According to Chief Ikoh, the position expressed by the Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodinma, is supported by visible Federal Government interventions across the region, including the South-East Development Commission, the Port Harcourt–Aba Rail Project, progress on the Eastern Rail Corridor, the Second Niger Bridge access roads, and other key infrastructure initiatives.

Chief Ikoh further recalled that during the recent visit of Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to Akwete in Ukwa West Local Government Area, Governor Otti publicly commended President Tinubu’s economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange reforms, and the increased federal allocations that have strengthened the financial capacity of states.

The First Lady also announced a ₦2 billion intervention for the rehabilitation and expansion of the Akwete weaving industry, further demonstrating the Federal Government’s commitment to the economic development of Abia State and the South-East.

Chief Ikoh therefore noted that Governor Otti’s recent remarks appear inconsistent with his earlier public commendation of the President’s policies.

While acknowledging that every Nigerian has the constitutional right to support a political party or candidate of choice, he maintained that Governor Otti’s views should not be interpreted as the collective position of the people of Abia State.

He reaffirmed that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, the Ozurumba Movement, and APC stakeholders across the 17 Local Government Areas and 184 wards of Abia State remain fully committed to mobilising support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

Chief Ikoh urged the people of Abia State and the South-East to embrace constructive engagement with the Federal Government, support the Renewed Hope Agenda, and continue working together for greater development, increased federal presence, and lasting national progress.

The Renewed Hope Ambassadors remain committed to grassroots mobilisation and to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda throughout Abia State.
