Think-tank group laud Abia government’s approval for reconstruction of umuahia-ikot-ekpene road
Think-tank group, League of Ibeku Professionals (LIBP) worldwide, has lauded the ongoing infrastructural revolution by the government across the Abia state.
The group specifically lauded the intervention and the recent approval for the construction of the dilapidated 25km umuahia -ikot ekpene road by the state executive council chaired by Governor Alex Otti.
The commendation by the socio-professional group was contained in a statement signed by the President of the group, Surveyor Samuel Aguiyi, Secretary, Catherine Onwudinjo, and Publicity Secretary, Chijindu Emeruwa.
It was made available to journalists on Wednesday in Abuja.
The dilapidated umuahia-ikot ekpene road is a federal government owned-infrastructure.
The League of Ibeku Professionals which lamented the difficulties posed by the deplorable umuahia -ikot ekpene road to motorists and pedestrians plying the road for decades, frowned the total display of neglects by the successive federal government in Nigeria to fix the road infrastructure despite several appeals and calls by stakeholders in the country.
The socio-professional body stressed that the intervention by the state government to carry out total repair of the bad federal road project, which stretched through ndume ibeku communities in umuahia east constituency, ikwuano communities, and ends to ikot-ekpene in Akwa Ibom state, would quell the incessant accidents and fatalities being recorded annually as a result of the ugly condition of the road.
“This umuahia -ikot ekpene road project which is part of the ongoing infrastructural revolution by the
“Governor Alex Otti-led administration, when fully executed and completed by the contractors will open up rural communities for business and economic expansion,”the group maintained.
While commending Otti-led administration for its steadfastness in its mission towards delivering durable infrastructure across the breadth of Abia state, League of Ibeku Professionals, condemned vehemently the divisive utterances by disgruntled opposition members from the state, targeted to blackmail and distract the present government from its good works in the state.
The socio-political body described as ‘unhealthy’ the latest resort to political brickbats and mudslinging by these critics for inordinate political ambitions against the present government.
The LIBP urged the political class to eschew from negative tendencies capable of causing tensions and breaching the relative peace being witnessed across the state.
The League of Ibeku Professionals, on behalf of the people of Ibeku ancient clan, reassured Governor Alex Otti of their unalloyed support in the ongoing efforts in deepening the current democratic process in all stratas of the state.
The group further commended Governor Alex Otti for his tremendous support to the deputy Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Austin Okezie Meregini, and the inclusion of Ibeku clan that mainly constitutes umuahia east constituency, in his administration’s infrastructural revolution in the state.
The pro-democracy body further used the medium to admonish every citizens of Abia state to continue in rendering their unflinching support to the present government in Abia as it unrelentingly makes positive efforts in restoring God’s Own State on path of economic prosperity.
