S/South APC endorses Tinubu, govs for 2nd term

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South South has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 poll.

The party also endorsed governors who are its members in the South South region – Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Bassey Otu (Cross River) and Monday Okpebholo (Edo) – as sole candidates for the next election.

The resolutions were reached during the APC South South stakeholders’ meeting in Benin, the Edo State capital, with the theme, “Renewed hope in action: Strengthening APC mobilisation and governance in South South.”

Reading the communique at the end of the meeting, the APC national vice chairman (South South), Victor Giadom, said APC leaders unanimously adopted President Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 poll because of “his transformational agenda” for the nation.

“We commend Mr President for his uncommon love and support for the South South region which clearly reflected in the emergence of Senate President from the region. We also take cognisance of the massive developmental projects in the region including but not limited to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road.

“We hereby unanimously adopt Mr President, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as our sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election. This is the decision of the South South zone of the APC.”
