2027:APC Chieftain, Chinedu Offor berates President Tinubu’s endorsement by Southeast leaders

A stalwart of the All Progressives Congress from the southeast and former Speaker of the Imo state House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedu Offor, has bared his mind on the recent endorsement of President Bola Tinubu for a second term by leaders and stakeholders of the APC in southeast region ahead of next year general election in Nigeria.

Recall that the major stakeholders of the governing All Progressives Congress met in Enugu and reaffirmed Tinubu’s endorsement for a second term in 2027.

They hinged on their collective supports to the President’s numerous giant strides in key sectors of the nation’s economic developments in the last two and half years in office.

Speaking during an interview with newsmen at the weekend, Honorable Offor berated party leaders from the southeast for hurriedly endorsed President Tinubu for another term, opining that party stakeholders who attended the enugu parley spoke for themselves as their position does not reflect to the collective decisions of the people of the region.

He stressed that the reaffirmation of President Tinubu’s endorsement by these southeast leaders ended within the fold of the ruling party in the country as larger citizens of igbo ethnic-nationality are yet to decide their fates and make pronouncements concerning the forthcoming Nigeria presidential poll in 2027.

Honorable Offor reminded political office-holders elected on the APC platform and other major leaders from the southeast that ordinary populaces in streets in all states of the region yearns for purposeful democratic leaderships that provide basic dividends of democracy to their doorsteps.

The frontline party chieftain posited that leaders from the region should have utilized the ample opportunity in Enugu APC meeting to take bold decisions n the socio-economic and infrastructural structural problems facing southeast zone and work towards engaging President Tinubu’s at a roundtable meeting for urgent attention and solution.

The ex-Imo commissioner of information and strategy emphasized that southeast has not fare well under the present federal government in Nigeria, reiterating that the region yearned for genuine developments to be at par with other geopolitical zones of the country that had benefitted hugely in government’s execution of impactful human capital projects in some ethnic-sections in the country.

Words: “The stakeholders did what are unsurprised. This is what they are expected to do as loyal party members. They reaffirmed their supports to the reelection bid of President who is the leader of the APC in the country. I must say the outcome of the southeast stakeholders meeting that took place in enugu does not reflect to will of the people from the zone.

“The question in everybody lips should be, has southeast zone fared well under the present APC administration in Nigeria? I think, this government has not done no enough to encourage developments in the southeast. So, these leaders spoke for themselves and cannot claim they are speaking on behalf of millions of igbos in Nigeria. The southeast party leaders should have firstly used that very opportunity provided in Enugu to discuss hostically on major challenges confronting the zone, and then engage the President towards solving some of the problems before carrying out any endorsements”.

He maintained that Nigerians irrespective of ethnic, religious and political leanings would decide President Tinubu’s fates in 2027 and not assemblage of a group of minority members of the party will guarantee the president’s continuity in office.

Honorable Offor urged public- officers from the southeast to tune down what he described as ‘early morning politickings’ and double-up individual efforts to pursue and implement policies to engender human empowerment, genuine economic transformation, and infrastructural growths in five(5) states of the southeast geographical zone.
