Eagles Star Chukwueze Pledges to Support Local Talents

Super Eagles winger, Samuel Chukwueze, has pledged to scout and promote local football talents for national and international opportunities.

Chukwueze made this commitment in Umuahia, during the finals of the 4th edition of the All Stars Championship League, which he sponsored in collaboration with De Concept on Sunday.

Speaking at the event, the AC Milan star emphasized the importance of grassroots competitions in unearthing raw talents, saying such initiatives would help secure a brighter future for Nigerian football.

“This is the place I grew up from. I also want other talents to be discovered from here and showcased, and I hope the world is watching,” Chukwueze said during the event, which was broadcast live globally.

He expressed confidence that several players who featured in the competition would be scouted by foreign clubs. Chukwueze encouraged Nigerian youths to take full advantage of such platforms rather than engaging in harmful vices.

“These competitions will help market many raw talents to the international football scene,” he added.

Chukwueze also urged governments at all levels to invest more in sports development through funding, equipment, and encouragement to fully unlock the country’s sporting potential.

Also speaking at the event, Victor Apugo, former General Manager of the Abia State Environmental Sanitation Agency, praised the initiative and pledged future support for the league.

In the tightly contested final, Chukwueze’s local AC Milan FC triumphed over IPPON FC, owned by businessman Chinomso Amakwe, via a penalty shootout.

Wearing jersey number 11, Chukwueze scored the decisive goal. The match was played at the same community primary school where he was discovered as a young talent.

Trophies and cash prizes were awarded to winners, runners-up, and outstanding players in all categories.
