APC’s Reaction To Obi NDC Kwankwaso Agreement Exposes A Government That Nigerians Cannot Trust

The recent revelation that Mr. Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso and the party entered into an agreement for a single 4-year term has triggered an unusually loud and negative reaction from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its members.

That reaction itself says more about the APC than it does about the agreement. It is an indictment of the ruling party, and a warning to Nigerians about what the APC has become.

It shows their disbelief in honesty because they do not practice it. The core of the APC’s attack has been disbelief that any politician would actually keep to a 4-year agreement and hand over power. Their commentators, spokespeople, and online attack dogs have called it “impossible,” “a scam,” and “political trickery.”

Why? Because the APC does not keep to its own words. But unlike the crooks in the APC, Peter Obi has a globally acknowledged record as a former governor who kept budgets, completed projects, and left office without controversy. He is widely cited for prudence, for not being linked to fraud cases, and for saying what he means.

The APC’s disbelief is therefore a confession. They assume everyone must be fraudulent because that is their own operating standard. They do not believe in honesty, so they cannot imagine honesty in others. When they see a man with a record of keeping agreements, they call it a lie, because in the APC world, agreements are made to be broken.

And that is the APC telling Nigerians directly: do not trust us because we do not trust honesty.

It is also an attack on the unity and Nigeria’s diversity. Because beyond the issue of term limits, the agreement between Obi, NDC, and Kwankwaso was presented as a pact to promote national unity, power rotation, and respect for Nigeria’s diversity. It is a framework built around peaceful coexistence and giving different regions a sense of belonging.

The APC’s negative reaction exposes that they do not believe in this vision. Instead of welcoming a conversation about unity and stability, APC voices have tried to fight it because they think the unity of Nigeria and Nigerians as being promoted by NDC is dangerous to APC since they thrive in division and polarisation of Nigerians, even as demonstrated in their Muslim Muslim ticket.

This shows a deeper problem: the APC does not believe in respecting Nigeria’s diversity. They do not believe in the unity of Nigeria unless it is on their own terms. They prefer a politics of exclusion, where power is held, and agreements between groups who want to accommodate each other are treated with suspicion.

The NDC and its allies are proposing dialogue, power-sharing, and respect for all peoples of Nigeria. The APC response shows they are uncomfortable with that model. They would rather undermine unity than support a process that puts country over party. They will rather the Muslims are fighting Christians, the South is fighting the North, Yorubas are fighting Igbos, Hausas are fighting Fulani, Ijaws are fighting Benins and Nigeria is deeply polarised instead of working together to build a nation. APC wants the chaos so that as vultures they are, they can keep looting and milking Nigeria in the ensuing confusion, not minding the sorrow, the tears and the blood they cause. Kau Baraje exposed how evil they are.

This is the APC way and Nigerians should take note. The anger over a simple 4-year agreement is not really about Obi or Kwankwaso. It is about the mirror the agreement holds up to the APC.

A party that believed in its own promises would say: good, let them keep their word. A party that believed in unity would say: any effort to promote peaceful coexistence is welcome.

Instead, the APC has done the opposite. They mocked the idea of keeping an agreement. They attacked the idea of unity.

That is an indictment. It confirms what many Nigerians have observed: the APC does not mean what it says. It does not believe in honesty. It does not believe that public office is about service and trust. And it does not believe that Nigeria’s diversity is a strength to be protected.

Fundamentally, it shows they are jittery about their failure, especially that of Tinubu in the last three years. They don’t want Nigerians to imagine what can be achieved in four years if Peter Obi becomes President. They know a lot will be achieved because Peter Obi is a serious minded Nigerian who is not corrupt and will work for Nigeria. But that will expose them and that is making them mad.

For example, my current governor in Abia State, Dr Alex Otti has shown that a good leader does not require forever to get things done just like the likes of Jakande and Mbakwe. What Pa Jakande achieved in 4 years as Lagos governor outweighs combined 24 years of leadership of Tinubu led APC in Lagos state. The same for Mbakwe. What Dee Sam Mbakwe achieved in four years under old Imo state outweighs the 24 years of combined leadership from Ohakim, Rochas to this hopeless Hope Uzodinma administration.

Because APC is full of governing clowns and gluttons who are driven by their hunger for primitive acquisition of material things and power and nothing more.

These APC goons who are now saying four years is not enough to do anything instead of admitting that President Tinubu is just an incompetent rudderless man, who is only focused on power and money and not the wellbeing of Nigerians.

They made the same argument for Buhari towards the end of his first term, when Nigerians realized that Buhari was rudderless and has nothing to offer like Tinubu. APC data boys went mad asking us to be quiet. Eventually Buhari spent 4 years more, making it 8 years. Instead of progress everything went from bad to worst. And thereafter he died after wasting everybody’s time.

The same thing we are witnessing now under Tinubu. In just 3 years Tinubu has plunged over 70 million Nigerians into poverty. And I bet you that it is going to get worst because as the day goes by we realize that this regime only came to steal and destroy.

With over 50 trillion naira unaccounted for in 3 years and poverty killing Nigerians, anybody having any form of hope in Tinubu is delusional. They don’t have the code to reset Nigeria and they want to prevent those who can do it. Because they are heartless.

The worst is that they lack the leadership, discipline, character, integrity and competence to pull Nigeria out of the doldrums. Tinubu has never managed or run anything successfully before going into politics. I challenge any of his supporters to show us his record. And as governor of Lagos he failed. Fashola and Ambode were even better leaders. Another four years of his administration will be hell.

Unfortunately Tinubu is also surrounded by rouges and criminals running fake agencies and defrauding Nigerian people from the top. They are not interested in building Nigeria but enriching themselves. They are mindless, thoughtless, heartless and shameless.

Four years is time enough for a sensible leader to stop the drift, reset, the country and put it on the path of recovery. The potentials to achieve it are there but people without self restraint, integrity, understanding of macro and microeconomic structures of the economy like Peter Obi can’t do it.

What we needed was a prudent manager and a disciplined character like Peter Obi who will restore the rule of law and deploy resources efficiently and restart Nigerian productivity.

By the next four years a Peter Obi will conduct a free and fair credible election that will allow Nigerians across the states of the federation to elect quality leaders that will now take a stabilized Nigeria to its future. This is what these APC criminals fear most about Peter Obi.

But it will be good for Nigeria because even Nigerians in the diaspora who have something to offer can come home under Peter Obi and run and win in a free and fair election to help their local government, state and Nigeria.

This bunch of low self esteemed characters looking for what to grab even beyond their needs can’t do it. Obi is the answer.

Politics is about trust. And when a government cannot even conceive that a political leader will keep a public agreement, that government is telling you who it is.

The APC’s negative reaction shows a party that equates politics with fraud, that is suspicious of unity, and that is uncomfortable with leaders who have a record of honesty, capacity and compassion.

Nigerians should take note. A party that does not believe in keeping its word, and that undermines efforts at national unity, is a party that should not be trusted with the future of Nigeria.
