APC Chieftain, Chukwuemeka Eze accuses FCT minister Wike of engaging in self-denial about his background

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and ally of former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi, has launched a scathing attack on Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), accusing him of fabricating details about his background and engaging in self-denial to justify his lavish lifestyle.

The controversy stems from Wike’s recent appearance on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’, where he claimed to have come from a wealthy family and attended school driving his own car, distancing himself from the background of his former political mentor, Amaechi.

Wike also alleged that Amaechi’s wife, Dame Judith, collected N4 million monthly to train Rivers women and vowed to resign if a forensic audit of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) does not implicate her.

In a strongly worded statement issued to reporters over the weekend, Eze dismissed Wike’s claims as “falsehoods” and accused him of ridiculing himself by denying his humble beginnings.

Eze alleged that Wike, who served as an errand boy to Amaechi, has distanced himself from those who supported him during his rise from poverty.

“Trying to claim how rich his father was when poverty radiated in his family is denying his background,” Eze said,

“Wike’s father, if alive, would be disappointed in his son’s actions,”he added.

The South-south party stalwart further claimed that Wike’s father disowned him due to his character and that a friend’s father paid his school fees, enabling his education.

Eze also questioned the integrity of Wike’s wife, a judge, suggesting that her association with Wike could compromise her judicial impartiality.

“Sleeping daily in the same room and on the same bed with a character like Wike will definitely affect her sense of judgement in the delivery of justice,” he remarked.

The APC chieftain accused Amaechi of making a grave error by mentoring Wike, facilitating his rise to positions such as Local Government Chairman, Chief of Staff, and Minister during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

Eze further criticized Wike’s tenure as Rivers State Governor, alleging that he dismantled key policies and projects established by Amaechi, including agricultural initiatives and educational programs designed to position Rivers State as a hub for human development.

“Wike’s biggest legacy as Governor is the destruction of all major policies and projects set up by Amaechi’s government for the betterment of Rivers State and her people,” Eze stated.
