Your Excellency,

I write as a responsible and deeply concerned citizen of Imo State, from Ikeduru Local Government Area, who has followed the political evolution of our state with clarity, objectivity, and commitment. Though not a career politician, my background in the private sector has instilled in me an appreciation for planning, succession, and sustainability—values that are indispensable to enduring governance.

Imo State’s political history is well documented. From the era of Chief Evan Enwerem Ogbuhuruzor through successive administrations, the state has often struggled to consolidate progress. The late Chief Sam Onunaka Mbakwe remains a reference point precisely because his vision was people-centered and transformational. Unfortunately, the absence of continuity after his tenure led to long periods of regression.

It is within this historical context that your administration stands out.

When you assumed office, expectations were understandably cautious. Years of instability, insecurity, and governance fatigue had weakened public trust. Many believed that Imo State had become structurally difficult to govern. Insecurity was rife, and narratives—both internal and external—portrayed the state as divided and directionless.

Your Excellency, through firm leadership, strategic patience, and political maturity, you have altered that trajectory.

Your approach to security reform, culminating in the establishment of the Imo Vigilante initiative, reflects not only resolve but a long-term understanding of state responsibility. More importantly, your infrastructure-driven governance has restored visible confidence in Imo State as a place of opportunity and promise.

As someone who resides outside the state, I relied for years on media reports that discouraged physical engagement with home. However, my visit to Imo State earlier this year was a defining moment. What I encountered was a state under active reconstruction—roads, power initiatives, Oguta Lake dredging, the revival of Concorde Hotel, and the deliberate repositioning of Owerri as a tourism and investment hub.

Objectively and historically speaking, apart from the Mbakwe era, no administration has matched your breadth of delivery and clarity of vision.

Your Excellency, as governance matures, the conversation must evolve from performance alone to preservation of legacy. Among Imo professionals—both at home and in the diaspora—there is now a dominant and sincere concern: how can the gains of this administration be protected from reversal after your tenure?

This concern is neither premature nor political agitation. It is a responsible inquiry rooted in history. Imo State has suffered most when transitions lacked ideological alignment and institutional memory.

True leadership is measured not only by achievements in office, but by the structures and successors that safeguard those achievements.

Following broad consultations across professional, youth, faith-based, and community circles, a clear preference has emerged for continuity anchored on competence, character, and loyalty to your development philosophy. Within your political family, we have identified an individual who embodies these qualities—someone not driven by entitlement politics, but by service and discipline.

That individual is Dr. Macdonald Ebere, PhD.

Dr. Ebere represents a bridge between governance experience and generational renewal. He is ideologically aligned with your administration, grounded in Christian values, educationally accomplished, and known for organizational discipline and accessibility. Importantly, he commands trust among professionals and grassroots stakeholders alike.

Your Excellency, this appeal is not a directive, nor is it a demand. It is a strategic recommendation born out of consensus, loyalty, and a sincere desire to see Imo State avoid the costly cycle of discontinuity.
