An Open Letter to Abia State Students Ahead of 2027

As political momentum builds toward the 2027 General Elections, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Directorate of Student Affairs extends warm greetings to all students across Abia State’s tertiary institutions, including ABSU, MOUAU, and Abia Poly. Students represent the most enlightened, digitally connected, and strategic demographic in the state, holding the power to shape the region’s democratic future.

To maximize this influence, every eligible student must prioritize acquiring or transferring their Permanent Voter Card (PVC) early, moving beyond social media commentary to exercise real political power. Campus peace and academic stability must be protected at all costs; students should firmly reject political thuggery, ballot disruption, or any attempt to weaponize Student Union Governments and campus associations for partisan division. No political agenda justifies risking student safety or academic progress.

Furthermore, tertiary students must drive the transition toward issue-based politics. When evaluating political aspirants, students should demand concrete solutions regarding tertiary education funding, campus infrastructure, research opportunities, post-graduation employment, and digital economy integration. Critical thinking must extend to information consumption by fact-checking claims and combatting misinformation before sharing content across social media networks.

The NDC Student Affairs Directorate remains committed to advocating for educational advancement, youth inclusion, and student welfare across God’s Own State. By approaching the 2027 elections with purpose, intellect, and peaceful determination, Abia students can safeguard their democratic rights and ensure their voices actively shape the governance that impacts their future.
