Concerned Abia citizen, Chief Henry Ubi, has decried the continued neglect of ohuhu clan by the present administration in the state.

His condemnation followed the growing concerns within the ohuhu community over alleged marginalization in the schemes of Abia state by the Governor Alex Otti-led administration.

In a statement on Friday, Chief Ubi lamented that despite immense contributions of ohuhu clan to the socio-economic and political growths of Abia state and Nigeria, including the present government has abandoned the clan in its economic and infrastructural revolution across the state.

Recalling his earlier alarms over alleged neglect of ohuhu extraction under the current state government, Chief Ubi who doubles as Onwa Ukwu Ohuhu’ regretted administration’s insensitivity towards several outcries and appeal by indigenes on marginalization and revamping of some decayed infrastructure built in the clan by then Premier of Eastern Region, Dr Michael Okpara.

According to the Abia chieftain, “Earlier when I pointed out this issue, a lot of otimkpu joined the chorus. Some even challenged me to get prominent ohuhu people to build the road if government don’t do it.

“I pointed out that Ulonna South farm settlement is abandoned and is about to be occupied by bandits and Boko-Haram. The vast land of cultivated and used for the purposes can feed the entire Abia. No one cared.

“Now two years have passed, the Governor may not even know where Dr M. I Okpara house is located. We don’t have a record of his friend in ohuhu, only political ally and statutory officers,”He stated.

Continuing, Ubi said “We want to hear from the people that have the governors ears what he has against Ohuhu people. When he did not even come to our Ohuhu Iri ji festival, I know then that things are not well with Ohuhu and the Governor.

“Please take it to the Governor from the youth of the elders have wronged him to forgive us.

“Dr Alex Otti is the Governor of All and should not harbour animosity or set boundaries by punishing Ohuhu people,”He posited.
