Abia State NDC Is not ready for elections

It is painful to say this, but the events surrounding the ongoing primary election process have raised serious questions about the readiness of the NDC in Abia State to conduct credible and transparent elections.

As an aspirant for Bende South State Constituency, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges and irregularities that have characterized this process from the beginning until now. (Evidence choke)

The Bende State Constituency primary election did not hold today alongside the House of Representatives and Senatorial primaries. This unfortunate development has left many party members, supporters, and aspirants disappointed and questioning the commitment of the party to internal democracy.

The fundamental question remains: Why is there fear of allowing party members to freely choose their candidates through a transparent primary election process?

A political party that seeks to provide leadership to the people must first demonstrate fairness, accountability, and respect for democratic principles within its own ranks. It is therefore disappointing that individuals entrusted with guiding the party are presiding over a process that many members perceive as flawed and exclusionary.

This is bigger than any one aspirant. It is about protecting the democratic rights of party members and ensuring that the voices of the people are heard and respected.

I call on the national leadership of the NDC to urgently intervene, restore confidence in the process, and ensure that all primary elections are conducted fairly, transparently, and in accordance with the party’s constitution and democratic values.
