Abia ADC crisis: I’m not involved in any endorsement- Senator Akobundu

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Representative of Abia Central senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Austin Akobundu has frowned a report circulating in section of the media to the effect that he alongside others signed a communique purportedly endorsing one Iyke Nwoke as Abia state chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

In a statement on Tuesday, Senator Austin Akobundu insisted that he is not in any involved in the purported endorsement, describing the report as untrue, designed by desperate elements to hoodwink and mislead unsuspecting members of the public.

“There is no way Senator Austin Akobundu, a PDP senator, would have involved himself in the activities of another political party to the extent of endorsing a chairman for it,”he stated.

“Those who are leveraging the goodwill of Senator Austin Akobundu to gain validation while sowing seeds of confusion in our polity should desist from such acts forthwith”,the lawmaker warned.

THE PURVEYOR recalls that leadership crisis erupted in Abia State chapter of the African Democratic Congress after the concluded 2023 election held in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission, as the party parades two different state executive committees chaired by Mr Don Norman Obinna and Iyke Nwoke.
