Abia 2027: Think-tank Group backs Otti, Meregini for second term

Ibeku League of Professionals (IBLP), has reiterated its positions declaring there’s no vacancy onto Abia Government house and onto umuahia east constituency seat in Abia State House of Assembly in 2027.

The Abia think tank group whose membership is drawn from academia, media, health, private sector-driven business, different political parties, stated this in a communique issued on Monday, at the end of its enlarged meeting held in Umuahia, the Abia State capital.

The communique was signed by the President, Surveyor Samuel Aguiyi, and Secretary General of the group, Amb. Chinedu Emeruwa.

Ibeku League of Professionals (IBLP), maintained that the Umuahia east constituency has witnessed significant progress knd development under Governor Alex Otti-led administration’s infrastructural revolution and effective representation of the deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly, and member representing umuahia east constituency, Rt. Hon Austin Okezie Meregini (Ugolee).

The pro-democracy group noted the state government’s takeover of the reconstruction project on umuahia -ikot ekpene federal road, which stretches across ndume ibeku communities in umuahia north loca area of the state.

Ibeku League of Professionals also noted that the constituency has benefited immensely in the state government’s execution of road construction and rehabilitation across local communities in the state, pointing out the reconstructed Dozie Way/Ihie road, and nearly-completed umuafai-lodu-Ahiaeke road- okwuta-isieke ibeku ring roads.

The group also noted that constituents from umuahia east have continued to access and enjoy the state government’s dispensation of impactful social infrastructural projects, as Dr. Alex Otti-led administration engendered the building o classroom blocks and equipped laboratory in public and community-owned schools in the areas.

According to pan-ethnic professional body, the government’s building of smart school in Ibeku, coupled by these aforementioned infrastructural feats recorded by Dr Alex Chioma Otti-led administration in across ibeku communities significantly enhanced the accessibility of teaching and learnings in public schools by every Abia pupils and students.

Aside the government’s milestones in Abia’s education system, the group further further noted Governor Otti-led administration in Abia State ensured you employment of several constituents from umuahia east into ministries, departments, and agencies in Abia state during its quarterly recruitment exercise carried out by the Office of the Head of Service.

Ibeku League of Professionals commended the deputy speaker, Rt Hon Austin Okezie Meregini for demonstrating capacity by interfacing with the executive arm of Abia State government in attracting the building of these numerous gigantic infrastructural projects in umuahia east state constituency by Governor Alex Otti’s administration in the state.

Ibeku League of Professionals gave a passmark to the number two lawmaker of Abia state for establishing and maintaining a healthy relationship with Governor Otti-led administration, which according to the Abia think-tank group, has fostered inclusion of umuahia east in the government’s provision of basic infrastructures in the state and inclusion of indigent people from the constituency in several social investment and human empowerment programs, powered by Governor Otti-led administration in Abia State.

While maintaining there’s no vacancy in the state government house, umuahia, and umuahia east constituency seat in Abia house of assembly come next year, IBLP pleaded with Governor Alex Chioma Otti and Rt Hon Austin Okezie Meregini to heed to the clarion calls on him by the majority of ordinary citizens and critical political stakeholders from umuahia east constituency (Ibeku), indeed all Abian to seek re-election in 2027 respectively.

The group adduced the rationale behind its support to reelection of the two Abia leaders come next year, and posited that Otti has redefined governance in Abia state by ensuring necessary dividends of democracy are brought to the doorsteps of every Abia citizens and residents.

IBLP further pointed that Governor Alex Otti deserves reelection in 2027 to enable his administration consolidate on the numerous achieved giants development strides, and engender more meaningful human capital projects, in making life better for Abia populaces and fostering even developments in all local areas in the state.

On Rt Hon Austin Okezie Meregini, the group explained that the lawmaker has made a difference in legislative representation by sponsoring development-oriented bill and making impactful laws that has strengthened relevant institutions of democratic governance.

“Aside the deputy speaker’s sterling leadership strides in the last three years, Ibeku League of Professionals believes it more equitable and fair for ndume ibeku extraction to take another shot in Abia state House of assembly in 2027 as per other clans that had produced a lawmaker for umuahia east state constituency,”The group added.

“In order to foster an all-round and inclusive developments in umuahia east const, it will be fair and just, ndume bloc to take another term in State House of Assembly come 2027. And we want to use this for a to call upon the people of umuahia east constituency, and indeed, every Abia citizens to throw their maximum weights behind Governor Alex Otti and the Deputy Speaker of Abia House of Assembly,Rt Hon Austin Okezie Meregini’s continuity in office as we approaches next year’s general election in Abia and other states of Nigeria federation.

On their part, Ibeku League of Professionals promised to rise bulk votes casts to ensure Otti and Meregini’s reelection of these worthy Abia leaders on the platform of the Labour Party (LP).

While rallying support from Abia populaces ahead of the forthcoming general elections across the country, the group therefore, called on eligible citizens of Abia State to ensure they register and obtain their permanent voters cards and vote in credible and capable candidates who are capable in delivering good governance to them and engender genuine socio-economic and infrastructural development in the state.
