The Abia State Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rtn.Emeka Lius Okoro is hereby advised to play politics with sincerity, fairness and integrity, and to desist from hypocrisy or any action that could undermine the credibility of the party and its democratic processes.

Politics should not be reduced to personal enrichment or selfish ambition. The outcome of a properly conducted primary election must be respected, and the legitimate winner should not be displaced through backroom arrangements, manipulation or political inducements.

There are growing concerns that certain individuals may be attempting to use money and influence from outside the party, including alleged inducements from APC interests, to alter the rightful outcome of the primaries. These allegations must not be allowed to become a reality.

Let it be clear: no amount of money, personal interest or political pressure should be allowed to exchange the people’s mandate for an individual’s selfish ambition.

Hon. Ikechukwu Martin Apugo won the NDC primaries for the Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, with the primaries observed by INEC. Therefore, the mandate freely given by the people must be respected and protected.

The people’s choice is not a commodity for sale. It must not be exchanged for money, personal interest, or political manipulation. The will of the people must stand.

We therefore call on the Publicity Secretary to uphold the truth, respect the delegates’ mandate and defend internal democracy. If the party claims to stand for justice and fairness, then its leaders must demonstrate those values in practice.

Play politics sincerely. Respect the mandate. Do not sell the people’s victory for personal interest.

The people are watching, and history will judge every decision taken at this critical moment.
