Edo 2027: Campaign Organization frowns alleged propaganda against Comdr Tope Jacob

The attention of the Tope Campaign Organization has been drawn to the negative rhetoric and deliberate misinformation being circulated by certain political opponents who, sensing an early defeat, have resorted to cheap propaganda in the face of the overwhelming popular demand for grassroots representation in Akoko Edo Constituency II.

The false claim that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidates in Akoko Edo, particularly Rt. Hon. Comr. Tope Jacob, deliberately ignored the traditional institution is a complete misrepresentation of events and should be disregarded by the public.

Rt. Hon. Comr. Tope Jacob is a known unifier who has demonstrated this quality repeatedly throughout his years of public service. Ososo remains one indivisible community, united by its rich history, shared values, and common aspirations. No amount of political blackmail or sponsored falsehood can divide the people of Ososo.

The reality is simple: Ososo today has a viable candidate of proven character, tested leadership, and grassroots acceptability across all quarters of the community standing as a viable option before the electorate. This, indeed, is the beauty of democracy—offering the people a credible alternative for good governance.

Ordinarily, the Tope Campaign Organization would have ignored these sponsored online attacks. However, in an era where social media is increasingly manipulated to spread falsehood and mislead the public, remaining silent would amount to allowing misinformation to prevail.

For the avoidance of doubt, the event of yesterday was a political engagement convened by the leadership of the party at the local level and not a political tour, as falsely portrayed by some individuals.

Following the meeting, our candidate proceeded to visit members of the community despite a heavy downpour where the opportunity was also utilize to seek for royal and Fatherly Blessings Unfortunately, the rain prevented the candidates and their team from reaching several supporters, as many residents understandably remained indoors due to the heavy downpour of yesterday. Those present in Ososo can attest to these facts.

Rt. Hon. Comr. Tope Jacob holds the Ososo Traditional Council in the highest regard under the unified leadership of the Olososo of Ososo, the Paramount Ruler of the Kingdom. He has always maintained a cordial and respectful relationship with the palace and remains committed to preserving the dignity of our revered traditional institution.

It is important to state unequivocally that the NDC has not officially flagged off its campaign activities. As a matter of principle and respect for our customs and traditions, Rt. Hon. Comr. Tope Jacob and the NDC Candidates will visit the palace to seek royal blessings before embarking on any formal political campaign.

Our traditional institutions are sacred, and the unity of our people is non-negotiable. We therefore urge members of the public to disregard the false narratives being peddled by political detractors and remain focused on the issues that matter—good governance, development, and effective representation for the people of Akoko Edo Constituency II.
