NASS 2027: Imo North Elders Council backs Onyirimba’s senatorial bid
Socio-political group, Imo North Elders Council (IMEC), has lauded the outstanding human qualities of Attorney Charles Onyirimba, describing him as the best man to drive socio-economic and infrastructural development in okigwe zone when elected as the Senator representing imo north senatorial district at the national assembly.
The group whose membership is drawn from six local government areas that formed imo north senatorial district (okigwe zone) of Imo state, welcomed the recent decision of Attorney Charles Onyirimba to seek the election into the Nigerian Senate to represent the district in 2027.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Owerri, the Imo state capital, Imo state, the group noted that Attorney Charles Onyirimba ‘s invaluable contributions towards deepening democracy in imo state and Nigeria, cannot be overemphasized, describing his latest decision to vie for imo north senatorial district seat election next year, as true reflection of yearning of majority people of the six local government areas that constitute the imo north district otherwise known as okigwe zone.
The statement by the group was signed by the President, Surveyor Samuel Aguiyi and Comrade Chinedu Offor.
Continuing, Imo North Elders Council(IMEC) noted that Attorney Charles Onyirimba has remained unwavering in his commitment to societal building and development.
The group affirmed its confidence in the ability and capacity of Attorney Charles Onyirimba to make impactful laws that will foster youth, men and women empowerment in okigwe zone, and as well as strengthened relevant institutions of democratic governance in Nigeria if supported to emerge as the senator representing imo north senatorial zone next year.
The Imo North Elders Council pledged to rally maximum support and bulk votes for Attorney Charles Onyirimba to emerge victorious in party primary election, and the main poll in 2027.
The group therefore used the medium to commended the leadership of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) in Imo state for issuing its imo north senatorial seat ticket to Attorney Charles Onyirimba, whom it described as best brain for the legislative job.
It further urged all eligible Imolites to participate in the ongoing nationwide voters registration exercise by the Independent national electoral commission, so as to enable them exercise their franchise in next year’s general election in the country.
“Citizens of this country should ensure they register and collect their permanent voters cards (PVC), because, it is the only weapon and power vested on citizens by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to effect a change in government, and vote in credible people to mount leadership saddle in all levels in the country,”The organization advised.
