Southeast group laud Tinubu, NASS on Chief Victor Ikeji’s nomination as FCC commissioner 

Abia Youths for Accountable Democracy (ABYAD), has lauded the recent nomination of High Chief Victor Ikeji, PhD, as the new commissioner, representing Abia state at the Federal Character Commission by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The pro-democracy and youth rights advocacy group commended members of the Nigerian Senate for the the successful screening and confirmation of Ikeji’s nomination as new FCC commissioner.

ABYAD made the commendation in a statement signed by its President, Surveyor Samuel Aguiyi, and Secretary -General, Comrade Chinedu Emeruwa, made available to journalists on Friday in Umuahia, the Abia state capital.

Recall that the Senate had in December 11, 2025 confirmed the immediate-past transition committee chairman of umuahia north local government area of Abia state, Chief Victor Ikeji as new commissioner representing Abia in the FCC, alongside 37 commissioners representing the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The nominees were confirmed after considering the report of the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, presented during the plenary by its chairman All well Onyeocha.

While speaking, ABYAD also expressed profound gratitude to the President for finding Ikeji worthy of the appointment, describing the development as apt.

The southeast youths equally thanked Governor Alex Chioma Otti for the confidence reposed in Ikeji through his recommendation, confiding that the newly-nominated federal commissioner will live up to expectations in ensuring effective representation of Abia state, and southeast at the federal character commission.

According to ABYAD, “there’s no doubt, that this seasoned administrator(Ikeji), having displayed leadership capacity and strides while serving then as mayor of umuahia north local government council area, will also replicate the same capacity in contributing positively to national development”.

The organization further used the medium to urge Abia citizens and residents to continue in supporting the transformative leadership of Governor Alex Otti in the state, which it noted, has positioned the state on the path of economic greatness.
