Former governorship aspirant in Abia state and Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Etigwe Uwa has resigned from the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) in the state.
His resignation was disclosed in a letter addressed to APGA chairman, Asaga ward in Ohafia local government area of Abia state..
Uwa regretted that APGA has lost focus and been turned into a one state party rather than evolving into a regional and national party.
According to the party chieftain,”The conduct of some of the officials of the party in the past effectively turned the party into a ticket merchandising bazar of sorts. This explains why the party has been Anambra-centric rather than regional or national in its outlook. The leadership of the party has been domiciled in one state for 18 years and with the current trend may remain so domiciled for 24 years.
“I am unable to continue in such a narrow-focus myopic contraption.
“It is sad that I have to leave given that there was a positive spirit in APGA which is symbolized by the cock-a symbol of promptness, alertness, initiative, industry and productivity and of glory. The cock takes the initiative to wake up and wake others up by its crowing at dawn signalling that it is time to work and the period of slumber is over. The cock has an inbuilt alarm system which rings for the benefit of the cock but for the benefit of slumberous people who requires the externality of a third-party to be woken up from sleep.
“Where I go from APGA would ultimately become manifest.
“Sadly, APGA has itself fallen into deep slumber and apostasy, and all efforts to wake up the cock whose inherent nature it is to wake others up has wholly failed. The spirit of AGA, as it was when it was conceived and founded by Chekwas Okorie and given vitality by Ikemba Odumegwu Ojukwu, has left the party.
“I am a prigrim on a journey whose ultimate destination is the building of an enviable Nigeria which would be the pride of all Nigerians. I would by the grace of God ultimately settle in that place where the predominant purpose aligns with my vision for a new better and brighter Nigeria”.
