2027: Group urges APC chieftain, Brightman Onyendi to join Abia central senatorial race

A pro-democracy group, Progressive Abia Youths for Good Governance has lauded the sterling leadership qualities of Chief Dr. Brightman Onyendi.

Progressive Abia Youths for Good Governance (PAYG), which membership is drawn from six local government areas that formed Abia central senatorial district of Abia State, in a statement on Monday, hailed Chief Brightman Onyendi’s resilience and commitment to nation-building.

The statement by the socio-political organization was signed by the President, Surveyor Samuel Aguiyi, and the Secretary, Comrade Chinedu Emeruwa.

While noting that Chief Brightman Onyendi’s invaluable contributions towards deepening democracy in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized, Progressive Abia Youths for Good Governance (PAYG) also noted that the Isiala Ngwa-born technocrat has remained unwavering in his commitment towards the welfare of the people.

While describing Chief Dr. Brightman Onyendi as a true democrat, Progressive Abia Youths for Good Governance(PAYG), expressed confidence in the capacity of Dr. Onyendi to delivering effective representation when called upon to represent the good people of Abia central senatorial district at the red chamber of the national assembly in 2027.

The group believed that Chief Brightman Onyendi if called upon to become next senator, he will initiate impactful bills and make laws that will engender youth empowerment and socio-economic and infrastructural development in Abia central senatorial district.

Progressive Abia Youths for Good Governance after extensive consultations and deliberations, therefore called on Chief Dr. Brightman Onyendi to join the 2027 Abia Central senatorial race and adduced that he is the best man to provide effective, efficient, and responsive representation to the people of the Abia central senatorial zone.

Progressive Abia Youths for Good Governance (PAYG) pledged to rally maximum support and bulk votes for the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), , to emerge victorious in party primary election, and the main poll in 2027.

The youth rights advocacy body also used the medium to call on the leadership of the APC in Abia state to cede its Abia central senatorial seat ticket to Chief Dr. Brightman Onyendi, whom they described as a man of enormous capacities, and the best brain for the plum legislative job.

Progressive Abia Youths for Good Governance (PAYGG) further urged every eligible Nigerian citizens to participate in the ongoing nationwide voters registration exercise by the Independent national electoral commission, so as to enable them exercise their franchise in next year’s general election in the country.

According to the organization, “The citizenry should ensure it register and collect their permanent voters cards (PVC), because, it is the only weapon and power vested on citizens by the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to effect a change in government, and vote in credible people to mount leadership saddle in all levels in the country”.
