Abia: Eze-elect Michael Ndukwe urges sustained support for Gov Otti, Mayor Ekeke as Isiala-ezere gets lifeline borehole

The Eze-elect of Isiala-Ezere Autonomous Community, Sir Michael Chijioke Ndukwe, has called on residents of Isiala-Ezere, the entire Isuikwuato Local Government Area, and Abians across the state to sustain their support for the leadership of the Mayor of Isuikwuato LGA, Hon. Chinedum Ekeke, and the Abia State Government under Governor Alex Otti.

Sir Michael made the call while witnessing the ongoing borehole project executed for Isiala-Ezere Autonomous Community by the Isuikwuato Local Government Council.

He emphasised the need for continuous prayers for those in authority, noting that when leadership is just, purposeful, and people-oriented, development naturally becomes the dominant focus.

According to him, Isiala-Ezere has for years struggled with access to clean and reliable water despite being surrounded by streams.

He explained that several private attempts by residents to drill boreholes had failed due to the absence of the right equipment.

He expressed gratitude that the local government, under Mayor Ekeke, deployed the appropriate technology and expertise to successfully provide the borehole, describing it as a major relief and a life-changing intervention for the community.

The Eze-elect also highlighted other interventions by Mayor Ekeke within his first year in office, including the selection of Isiala-Ezere as a beneficiary of the mayor’s agricultural and farming pet project, as well as the warm reception accorded him as Eze-elect of the community in December 2024.

He described the mayor’s leadership as responsive and development-driven, urging the people to continue to support his administration.

Commending Governor Alex Otti, Sir Michael praised what he described as the governor’s giant strides in repositioning Abia State for sustainable growth and development.

He cited the retrofitting of the Isiala-Ezere Health Centre and the prompt payment of health workers as clear examples of the administration’s positive impact on the community.

He noted that the progress recorded under Governor Otti’s leadership is visible and undeniable, adding that even a child can see that Abia is moving forward.

He prayed for good health, strength, and increased wisdom for Governor Otti to continue piloting the affairs of the state with clarity and purpose, and urged Abians from all walks of life to remain steadfast in their support so that the administration can deliver even more dividends of democracy.

He also declared 2026 a year of peace and greater impact on the lives of Abians and Nigerians at large.

Speaking earlier at the Isiala-Ezere Community Home and Abroad Annual Meeting held on December 29, 2025, Sir Michael thanked the sons and daughters of the community for their continued commitment to community development.

He called for unity, love, and peaceful coexistence among the people, warning that the community would not tolerate any act capable of bringing it into disrepute.

He urged the youths to embrace hard work and prioritise education, while strongly cautioning against criminality, drug abuse, and the use of hard substances such as mkpuru mmiri.

He warned that anyone found engaging in such activities would be reported to the appropriate authorities to face the full weight of the law.

The Eze-elect also appealed to the President-General of the community, Engineer Levi Chukwueke, to ensure that proper access roads are considered in building developments to allow ease of movement and accommodate future growth, particularly for landowners in interior areas.

He noted that as Isiala-Ezere continues to grow and assume the outlook of a city, deliberate planning and forward-thinking decisions are necessary to foster sustainable development.

Sir Michael concluded by commending Engineer Chukwueke for his dedication and commitment to the development of Isiala-Ezere since his election as President-General on December 29, 2024, expressing confidence that the community is firmly on the path of progress, unity, and prosperity.
