Former presidential aspirant and founder of Better Nigeria for People, a pro-democracy group, Chief CBN Onwusoanya Ezendigbo has advocated for legislation prohibiting children of elected and appointed public office-holders in Nigeria to seek education and healthcare service in overseas.

Onwusoanya noted that this trends does not augur well to the country, and insisted that Nigeria has huge resources in upgrading schools and general hospitals to global standards.

The technocrat bared his mind in a statement on Thursday.

Onwusoanya also decried the increased poverty level in Nigeria and regretted that the country has the largest population living below extreme poverty line in Africa continent.

He criticized the frequent external borrowings of loans by the government to fund building of infrastructural projects.

According to him, government should stop securing loans backed by their natural resources, opining that natural resources-backed loans lacked transparency.

“They are expensive and make that debt resolution very very difficult. If we manage our natural resources well Nigeria has no reason to be poor

“We simply need to pull our socks, stop our corruption and manage our natural resources in the interest of our country and our people”, Onwusoanya advised.

The ex-presidential aspirant maintained that there must be accountability in management and utilization of the nation’s natural resources.
